Lynchburg Eats welcomes the Sunrise Café to the Lynchburg dining scene. Six weeks after their opening, we were more than thrilled to finally venture into their bright window-laden café located off of Fifth Street, close to the notorious roundabout.

Sunrise Cafe serves breakfast and lunch fare in addition to offering an espresso bar which serves local roasts, a bakery, and features chocolates from ,Chocolates R’ Us, a local chocolatier! Breakfast is served all day and includes menu options like waffles, crepes, eggs (from cage-free local farms) and wraps. The lunch menu has equally scrumptious offerings such as bison burgers, grass-fed beef burgers, nachos and various vegetarian entrees.  Sunrise Cafe also offers free Wi-Fi and a children’s toy corner which is highly appreciated by kids and moms alike!

We were told that the Sunrise Cafe serves a good burger, so our aim on this visit was to partake of this delicious American Dish. One such burger, called the Riplinger, is a quarter-pound of lean bison burger with organic greens, tomatoes, onions and mayonnaise, all on a Kaiser roll and served with a pickle and onion ring bits. We are happy to announce that this is one good burger! The bison was juicy, flavorful and prepared well, and the Kaiser roll was fresh and suited to the size of the burger.

We enjoyed the whole package: Good food, relaxed atmosphere, kid’s corner and particularly their commitment to providing patrons with as many local, fresh menu options as possible – for all of this, Lynchburg Eats recommends Sunrise Cafe!
